Welcome to the Troop 12 webpage! We are a BSA Scout troop chartered through VFW Post 1781.
We meet at the VFW or Temple Grandin Equine Center in Fort Collins, Colorado every Monday from 7:00 to 8:30pm!
Troop 12 is a scout-led troop with adult guidance, which means that the scouts are in charge of leading the troop with adults supervising. We decide on and execute our own program, select our own youth leaders, and handle difficulties and conflicts themselves as much as possible. The role of adults is to step back and only come in if needed when there are situations that the youth cannot handle themselves. Come visit one of our troop meetings to see this in action. As a troop, we strive to be active in the community, serving others and making a positive impact on the world. As a troop, we enjoy camping, hiking, biking and more.
We all want our children to grow into confident adults. This is why it’s so crucial to begin firmly establishing positive self-esteem and leadership skills from an early age. It’s also important to couple these lessons with an encouragement of compassion and humility. The mission of the BSA Scouts is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. These qualities are not only beneficial within the scouting context but also serve scouts well as they grow into adulthood, contributing positively to their communities and becoming responsible citizens. Scouting aims to help young people develop into well-rounded individuals with a strong sense of character and values.
